We have a new family member who hasn’t received nearly the amount of public attention she is entitled to, so it’s time to commit a random act of bad taste and post more pictures of puppies on the Web.
Penny (or Platinum’s Pennies from Heaven, as she’s known among the canine cognoscenti) is a Basenji pup, and she’s nearly twelve weeks old. This means that her primary pastimes include running around like an idiot, chewing things, running around like an idiot, peeing on things, running around like an idiot, being disturbingly cute, running around like an idiot, sleeping, and running around like an idiot. I could solve the world’s energy problems for the foreseeable future if I could directly convert her movements to electricity.
And don’t let the “idiot” part of “running around like an idiot” fool you; she’s anything but. We’re constantly amazed, and occasionally frightened, at how smart this puppy is, and she’s not even old enough to have an army of henchmen and a secret volcano lair yet. Give her time, and she’ll take over the world.
We’re not sure who’s more tired: us, or Storm, our two-year-old Basenji. He’s Penny’s father, and he puts up with her remarkably well, especially because she sees him as her primary playmate and won’t leave him alone. He’s been getting a workout fending her off, but he’s also terribly fond of her, as are the rest of us (with the possible exception of the cats).
Here are some more shots of Penny in action, along with Storm; the two of them are inseparable (mostly her doing). Thumbnails link to larger images (1600×1200 800×600) that show off the puppy in high-resolution splendor.
UPDATE [2004-03-10 09:56] Okay, so non-resizable 1600×1200 popup windows really suck unless you’re running at an even higher resolution. I’ve dropped them to a more reasonable 800×600. My apologies to everyone who couldn’t see most of the adorable puppy pictures.

I think every dog is issued one of those hedgehogs at weaning.
Cute pup! :)
Still pretty big pictures! Try compressing them. I personnelly use 640×480 for web and compress quite a bit. I typically end up with 30 to 60K pictures. Loads fast and is big enough. I keep by blog thumbnails a little bit biggr too
