It turns out that Jay Allen has already tackled the problem of Movable Type comment spam with an incredible plugin, MT-Blacklist. MT-Blacklist comes with a default list of over 450 known spam strings, and it’s already caught a Viagra comment in my blog that I’d completely missed. The configuration interface is elegant, and it even has an automatic “de-spam” link in the mail that MT(Movable Type) sends you when you get a comment. The next spam that comes through I’ll be able to squash like a tiny insect with the click of a button.
This is definitely a brand new plugin, too. Jay’s about to release another version today. I’m just happy to have such a well-designed piece of software protecting my blog from morons who think they can use my Web site as a billboard.
