Fair and balanced

It’s a sad, sad world we live in when media giants support censorship. Fox News Channel has sued Al Franken (of Saturday Night Live fame) over the title of Franken’s upcoming book: Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them: A Fair and Balanced Look at the Right. Fox News claims to own a trademark on the phrase “fair and balanced”, and in their lawsuit, they openly insult Franken and claim that he’s “not a well-respected voice in American politics”.

If politics were restricted only to the “well-respected”, Washington would be an empty city.

Neal Pollack is helping to organize an effort across the net to support Al Franken. This Friday, the 15th of August, is Fair and Balanced Day on the Internet. Stick the phrase “fair and balanced” somewhere on your site or in your email signature to show your disdain for censorship and strongarm corporate litigation.
