Spoofing resume bots

Tired of feeling like a number? Companies are inundated with so many resumes that they’ve turned to sorting software, or worse, online Web forms, to reduce the number of resumes that HR personnel need to review. This means that there’s a chance your resume is discarded by a machine before any human being ever lays eyes on it.

Business 2.0 has a great article titled “Short-Circuiting the New Paper Pushers“, which gives some tips on how to tailor your resume to pass through such filters with flying colors. Some of it is common sense stuff that I’ve been doing for years with my own resume, such as making sure my list of skills matches the exact wording used in the job description. There are also some other clever tactics that I’ll probably employ when I’m next looking for work.
