I just ran across Hugh MacLeod’s gapingvoid.com. Hugh is an artist who does a lot of work on the backs of business cards. His pieces are cartoons, but not in the strictly funny sense. They make poignant statements about the hopeless tangle of relationships and search for meaning that make up most modern citydweller’s lives. Some are hilarious, some depressing, some insightful, and some just plain mean. Overall, I find them extremely appealing, as evidenced by the fact that I’m compulsively clicking through them, unable to stop reading and viewing these tiny slices of life from New York City.
