Palm OS snapshot

Note: This article is a snapshot of content from my old Interests page. The effort required to keep this page up to date finally pushed me over the edge, and I installed Movable Type so I could just blog current events in my life. This article represents a snapshot of my interests, circa 26 February, 2003. For a more up-to-date view of my current interests, just take a look at my entries on the home page.

As if the enormous amount of time I sit in front of a desktop computer weren’t enough, I also have a Sony CLIÉ NX70V perpetually occupying my pocket. This tiny computer keeps track of my schedule and to do list, holds all sorts of useful information that I need to refer to when I’m away from my desktop machine, keeps me from getting bored during bus rides with a variety of games and reading material, and insures that amongst my friends, I am the source for phone numbers. It’s also got a built-in camera (capable of capturing still images and video), a voice recorder, and an MP3 player. I expect that with the right attachments, it would also make a decent cup of coffee.

Not content merely to own and use a handheld, I also write software for the Palm OS. Take a look at the Tribblescape Palm Zone to see a few of my programming efforts that managed to escape the lab to wreak havoc on the Web.

Not content merely to write software for the Palm OS, I also wrote a book on the subject: Palm OS Programming Bible. I could go into excruciating detail about how large and wonderful the book is, but its Web site already contains all the marketing material you could ever want to read (and then some), so I urge you to take a look there if you’re at all interested in Palm OS programming.

My favorite sites for Palm OS information are CliéPlanet, CliéSource, and Palm Infocenter. The single best place to grab Palm OS software is still PalmGear; they’ve got everything at that site.
